Intro to Marau Peninsula Real Estate (Península de Maraú)
Try to imagine what uninhabited beaches used to look like 50 years ago in Brazil. No buildings, no crowds, just beautiful, uninhabited white sand beaches with warm, transparent ocean surrounded by coral reefs. The Marau Peninsula escaped the tourist boom in Bahia due to its difficult access. Nowadays, it’s easier to get here. The peninsula is truly blessed with natural beauty. On the Atlantic side there are 42 kilometers of white sand beaches. On the other side is the Bay of Camamu, with vast stretches of untouched mangrove forest, dotted with uninhabited islands and quaint little fishing villages.
The Peninsula de Marau, Bahia, is made up of various beach villages, each one different and even more beautiful than the next. The most famous beaches, from north to south, are:

- Campinho
- Cassange Beach and Lake
- Algodoes Beach
Barra Grande Real Estate
Barra Grande has always been the focus of tourism, hence real estate and property values in Barra Grande have increased proportionally. 20 years ago, the majority of Barra Grande was undeveloped, whereas now the opposite is true. There are still many lots and properties for sale in Barra Grande, and there are still excellent investment opportunities to be had, especially when compared to other tourist destinations on the Bahia coast.

Taipu de Fora, Marau Real Estate
Taipu de Fora made the famous list by Guia de 4 Rodas as one of the top 5 most beautiful beaches of Brazil. It is roughly 20 by car from Barra Grande, and until recently, it was considered a day trip or tour, where visitors would catch a “jardineira” (4×4 with seats in the bed) in Barra Grande and spend time visiting the famous natural reef pools, returning the same day. 10 years ago, there were only a few resorts with a few restaurants focused near the tidepools. Since then, Taipu de Fora has become a target for real estate investment, especially for small to medium investors looking to build a pousada on or near the beach. There are still excellent opportunities to invest in property, with the better investment opportunities one block or more from the beach.

Cassange Beach, Marau Real Estate (Lagoa do Cassange)
Cassange and Cassange Lake is one of the most beautiful regions of the peninsula, with a huge fresh-water lake and a long stretch of beach with little development. Most of the properties here are upscale hotels or private homes with large properties, and any development is fairly spread out. Historically, properties on the part of the pensinsula are large plots that include beachfront and waterfront along the lake, yet smaller lots and homes are available now because of new subdivisions and upscale condominiums. Access to cassange can be a little difficult during the rainy season, but for nature lovers Cassange is truly a special place.

Algodoes Beach, Marau Real Estate
Algodoes Beach sits just south of Cassange Beach and the town of Saquaira. It’s a beautiful stretch of beach with calm waters and coral tidepools, and has become the destination for wealthy Brazilians and expats from around the world. Real estate values increased here the past 10 years, although not at the same rate as the tourist hot spots to the north. No resorts or large hotels are allowed here, and it has grown into an upscale neighborhood with beautiful homes and an interesting mix of people, making it a great investment for residential properties or tourism based smaller businesses, such as pousadas and restaurants.

Campinho, Marau Real Estate
Campinho is quaint, beautiful beach town on the bay side of the peninsula, separated from Barra Grande by the River Carapitangui. It has slowly and quietly become a mecca for sailboat owners from around the world, with deep draft for larger boats and calm waters year-round. It is very laid back despite being right next to Barra Grande. Real estate values have remained comparatively low except for right on the water, where large houses and private docks are the norm. It is our opinion that this region is poised for rapid growth in the next few years due to its location, excellent property value, and plans for a marina in the near future.
