10 Hectare Cacau Plantation – Rio de Contas, Itacare

This lush, 10 hectare cacao plantation is located in the district of Taboquinhas, Itacare, famous for its fertile soil and high-yielding cacao plantations. What makes this property even more special is its location along a pristine, 100 meter stretch of the Rio de Contas.

The property is 100 meters wide by 1,000 meters in length. It has approximately 1,000 cacau trees which currently yield roughly 25 arrobas (375 kg) annually. It also has various other fruit trees, including banana, coconut and acai.

The plantation has excellent access along a beautiful stretch of road that offers spectacular views of the Rio de Contas. The last 3 km is a well-maintained dirt road, with easy access all year round, including the rainy season. It is about a 25 minute drive from Itacare, and approximately 20 minutes by speedboat from Itacare.

The region surrounding the cacao plantation is incredibly beautiful, sitting amidst the forested mountains that line the Rio de Contas. The property can be used for multiple purposes besides cacao production, including a luxury, residential plantation, perfect for boat enthusiasts, agro-tourism, and the possibility of other various other high-yielding fructiferous crops, including acai.

If the Rio de Contas was anywhere else in the world, it would be a major tourist attraction in and of itself. Thankfully, it remains pristine here in the heartland of Bahia, with zero industrial pollution and very little tourism once outside of Itacare. There are however, several white-water rafting outfitters several kilometer up river in Taboquinhas, that brings tourism from Itacare.
