Real Estate in Peninsula de Marau and Camamu – The Dende Coast
The Dende Coast includes the Marau Peninsula (Península de Maraú), the municipality of Camamu, which includes the beautifully preserved Bay of Camamu, and the entire coast extending up to Valenca, which includes the popular tourist destinations of Morro de Sao Paulo and Boipeba. This coastline has some of the most beautiful beaches in all of Brazil. Besides its natural beauty, it still has some the best real estate investment opportunities in all of Brazil.
The Dende Coast (Costa do Dendê) is named after the Dende palm, whose oil is used in popular Bahian dishes.

Barra Grande & Taipu de Fora
Barra Grande and the neighboring beach of Taipu de Fora are at the northern tip of the Marau Peninsula and are the crown jewels of tourism in the region. It started in the quaint Villa of Barra Grande and the famous tidepools of Taipu de Fora, which attracted folks from all over the world. Although property values have skyrocketed here in the past several years, there are still many investment opportunities to be had, and it is certain that tourism here will outpace neighbors the the north and south.
The Marau Peninsula
The Marau Peninsula (Peninsula de Marau) is a recent gem for tourism and property investment. It was only accessible by boat until 2008, leaving it mostly untouched while other tourist destinations were exploding in popularity. Barra Grande and Taipu de For a have been the focus of growth in tourism and the real estate market, but the peninsula extends nearly 50 kilometers, and consists of long stretches of paradisical, nearly deserted beaches. There is no end in sight for opportunities in real estate investment.
Bay of Camamu and Region
The Bay of Camamu and the municipality of Camamu is a gold mine of unexplored investment potential owing to its difficult access before the construction of BA-001. Serra Grande
Serra Grande real estate is growing exponentially due to its natural beauty, beautiful beaches, good schools and its alternative, healthy lifestyle. Foreigners and wealthier Brazilians are buying up land here, driving up property values. Despite its beauty, investment in tourism infrastructure is kept low, while promoting a family based community and a well run municipality.
Itacare
Itacare is one of Bahia’s most popular tourist destinations, and its economy is based almost entirely on tourism. It has long been one of Brazil’s top surfing destinations as well as a mecca for international tourism and alternative lifestyles. The real estate market in Itacare is strong, with new investment increasing every year and no signs of slowing down.
North Ilheus Beaches
The beach towns of northern Ilheus extend up to Sargi Beach, just below Serra Grande. These beach towns have traditionally been summer destinations for Baianos from Ilheus and the interior of Bahia. The investment opportunities in real estate are abundant due to the mega project Porto Sul which is already under construction. It will be the second biggest port in Bahia after Salvador, creating excellent real estate investment opportunites.
